In the late spring of 2014, the community of Halfmoon, New York, was struck by a sudden and tragic event. On May 26th, the body of 64-year-old Darryl F. Bell was discovered in a wooded area near Woodin Road. The initial discovery prompted an investigation by the New York State Police to determine the circumstances surrounding the male victim's death.
Investigators, including a State Police pathologist and a forensic unit, processed the scene and conducted interviews with witnesses. Their inquiry soon revealed a heartbreaking story of a recreational outing gone tragically wrong. It was determined that Bell had been riding an all-terrain vehicle when the shotgun he was carrying accidentally discharged as he attempted to dismount the vehicle. The resulting gunshot wound proved to be fatal.
Following a thorough investigation, the State Police officially ruled Darryl F. Bell's death an accident. As a result, there were no arrests made nor any suspects sought in connection with the incident. The case was closed with the conclusion that Bell had died as a result of a tragic and unforeseen accident. His death was mourned by his wife, Lisa Kennedy Bell, and their children.
