In early January 2014, the life of 19-year-old Jeramiah Elijah Kimble was tragically cut short. The Hampton, Virginia male was last seen alive on January 4 in Newport News. Several days later, on January 9, his girlfriend officially reported him as a missing person, sparking concern among his family and friends. The young man's loved ones organized a search party in a desperate attempt to find him. Their efforts came to a heartbreaking end on the evening of January 12 when they discovered his body in a wooded area behind Mary Peake Elementary School on Thomas Street in Hampton.
Upon the discovery, Hampton Police were called to the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed that Kimble had been deceased for several days and had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body. The case was immediately investigated as a homicide. The motive for the killing was not immediately clear to investigators.
Following weeks of investigation, on February 21, 2014, the Hampton Police Division announced the arrests of three individuals in connection with the murder of Jeramiah Kimble. The suspects, who were known associates of the victim, were identified as 20-year-old Dwaune Lane Jr. of Hampton, 19-year-old Jaquan Turner of Hampton, and 20-year-old Jamil King of Hampton. Authorities stated that on January 4, the three men conspired to abduct and kill Kimble. All three suspects were taken into custody at the Hampton City Jail and subsequently charged with one count of murder, one count of abduction, and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
