Jerry Scott, an 82-year-old resident of Alexandria, Virginia, was found dead on July 23, 2018, in his home on East Reed Avenue. The Alexandria Police Department responded to a medical call and discovered Scott with trauma to his upper body. An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was homicide. The investigation revealed that Scott had been shot multiple times and attacked with a bladed weapon.
