In the summer of 2023, a tragedy struck Alexandria, Virginia, cutting short the life of 29-year-old Eric Holmes Jr. On the morning of July 24th, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Holmes was in the 800 block of West Glebe Road, near a playground in a residential area, when he was shot multiple times. First responders found him at the scene and transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal. A father of two, his death was the city's fifth homicide of the year.
