On the evening of October 19, 2024, tragedy struck in Alexandria, Virginia, when 23-year-old Carl Harris, a Black male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 7:51 p.m. in the 800 block of Manor Road. Officers from the Alexandria Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and a man down. Upon arrival, they learned that Harris had already been transported to Inova Alexandria Hospital. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the hospital from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing four males wearing ski masks near Harris's body before they fled the area. This has led to a homicide investigation by the Alexandria Police Department. Descriptions of the suspects were released to the public in the hopes of generating leads. The first suspect was described as wearing a black jacket, black skinny jeans, a black ski mask, and black Nike Air Jordans. The second was noted only as wearing a ski mask, and the third was seen in a navy-colored hoodie. The fourth suspect was described as a tall, skinny male wearing a gray sweater and black skinny jeans.
As of late December 2024, the Alexandria Police Department had not announced any arrests in connection with the shooting death of Carl Harris. The investigation remains active, and detectives have been canvassing the area and seeking any information from the public that might lead to the apprehension of the suspects. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact Detective Marable of the Alexandria Police Department.
