In the late hours of an autumn evening, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of an Alexandria, Virginia neighborhood, ultimately claiming the life of a young father. Just before midnight on October 9, 2019, police responded to reports of a possible shooting in the 300 block of South Reynolds Street. There, they discovered 21-year-old De'shon Jenkins suffering from a wound to his upper body.
