In the quiet evening of December 4, 2016, the life of 38-year-old Charlene Ryals, a female Navy veteran and nurse, was tragically cut short in her Norfolk, Virginia home. The horrifying events unfolded in front of her 9-year-old son, who would later make the brave 911 call for help. Paramedics arrived at the residence in the 500 block of Garren Avenue shortly before 8:40 p.m. to find Ryals suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
