In the early hours of May 3, 2022, a tragic event unfolded in Norfolk, Virginia, leading to the death of 32-year-old Delisha R. Taylor. A Black/African American female, Delisha was the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred around 1:30 a.m. At the time of the incident, she was reportedly sitting in a vehicle with her boyfriend when an unknown assailant drove by and opened fire. This act of violence took place in the 900 block of E.
Virginia Beach Boulevard.
Following the shooting, first responders were dispatched to the 600 block of W. Brambleton Avenue after receiving reports of two gunshot victims. Upon their arrival, they discovered Delisha inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced deceased at the scene. A man who was with her was also found nearby with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment.
In the wake of her death, family and friends gathered for a candlelight vigil to honor her memory, remembering her as a loving and caring person who worked in healthcare. The community was left in shock and mourning, with many calling for an end to gun violence.
The Norfolk Police Department is actively investigating the case as a homicide. However, despite their ongoing efforts and pleas for information from the public, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The case remains unsolved, leaving Delisha's loved ones awaiting justice.
