On a Tuesday afternoon, shortly before 4 p.m. on December 13, 2016, the life of 25-year-old Travis James Burke was cut short in a fatal shooting. The male Norfolk resident was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the 100 block of La Valette Avenue. Emergency medics arrived at the scene and transported Burke to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he died there.
