The incident occurred in the 600 block of Mariners Way, a residential area in Norfolk. According to reports, the shooting was the result of an argument between Davidson's mother, Khalana Smith, and George Antonio Boyd, who shared a home with Smith. During the altercation, Davidson intervened to protect his mother, which led to Boyd arming himself with a gun.
