In the winter of 2017, the life of 36-year-old Lamont Cornelius Baldwin, a Black male, was abruptly ended in Richmond, Virginia. On the evening of January 18th, Henrico Police and Fire departments received a call about a shooting and were dispatched to the 1200 block of Dominion Townes Terrace. Upon their arrival at approximately 8:30 p.m., they discovered Baldwin suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response from emergency services, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial motive for the shooting was not immediately clear, prompting a thorough investigation by the Henrico County Division of Police.

Antonio Tyrone Johnson and Santonio Rodrigus Brown, both 24 years old at the time, were taken into custody. A grand jury indicted Johnson on charges of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Brown was also charged with first-degree murder. Following their arrests, both men were incarcerated at the Henrico County jail as they awaited trial.
