In the quiet community of Beaverdam, Virginia, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragedy on January 20, 2017, ending the life of 31-year-old Glen T. McMillan Jr., a man known to his loved ones as Todd. That afternoon, Hanover County Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting at a residence on Trainham Road. Inside, they discovered McMillan suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation quickly centered on his girlfriend, Stephanie D.
Tinsley, who was 30 years old at the time. It was Tinsley herself who called 911, admitting to shooting McMillan during an argument that had been ongoing throughout the morning. According to court documents, Tinsley stated that at one point, she went upstairs and retrieved a loaded handgun. When she came back downstairs and attempted to leave, McMillan allegedly touched her on the shoulder. In that moment, she turned and began firing, continuing to shoot even after he had fallen to the ground.
Tinsley was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. She was held without bond at the Pamunkey Regional Jail. The case went to trial, and a jury ultimately convicted her of murdering McMillan.
McMillan was remembered as a devoted father to his young son and an avid fisherman who dreamed of turning his passion into a professional career. Friends and family were shocked by the violent end to his life, a life they said he had turned around for the sake of his child. His death was another devastating loss for his family, who had recently mourned the passing of his father and brother. He was also the nephew of Virginia Delegate Manoli Loupassi.
