Brian Eric Rainey, a 39-year-old resident of Tracy, Iowa, passed away on August 11, 2020, at 8:01 a.m. at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born on June 16, 1981, in Springfield.

At the time of his death, Rainey was employed as a deputy sheriff for the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office. The incident that led to his death occurred while he was off duty.
