In the early morning hours of May 13, 2017, the life of 68-year-old Haywood Maurice Carter, known affectionately as 'Biscuit,' was tragically cut short in what police have described as a targeted home invasion in Danville, Virginia. Carter, a Black male and a veteran of the United States Army, was inside his residence at 618 Shelton Street when the violent intrusion occurred. He suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
