In the early moments of the new year, a life was tragically cut short in Norfolk, Virginia. Derek Andre Edwards, a 33-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on January 1, 2018. The incident occurred just after midnight, around 12:40 a.m., in the 800 block of West 35th Street.
