In the Campostella area of Norfolk, Virginia, on the evening of February 15, 2023, the sound of gunshots broke the winter quiet. Around 6:20 p.m., Norfolk police officers in the vicinity heard the gunfire and were quickly dispatched to what would become a scene of violence and loss. There, in the 1700 block of Vine Street, they found 42-year-old Antoine L.
Hill, a Black male, suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders rushed Hill to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the shooting quickly revealed another victim. A short distance away, in the 1700 block of Jubilee Street, a 17-year-old male was also found with a gunshot wound. Fortunately, his injuries were not considered life-threatening, and he was expected to recover.
The Norfolk Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the death of Antoine Hill. As of the latest reports, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to piece together the events of that fatal evening. Community members and family mourned the loss of Antoine L.
