In the early morning hours of March 6, 2018, the life of Roger 'RaRa' Davis, a 27-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Reva, Virginia. A former standout football and basketball player at both Culpeper County High School and Eastern View High School, Davis was a well-known and beloved figure in his community, remembered for his athletic talent and kind-hearted nature.
After finishing his overnight shift at a local apparel company, Davis was
gunned down in the 15000 block of Shanktown Road. Despite suffering from severe gunshot wounds, he managed to drive his vehicle to the nearby home of his great-great aunt, where he ultimately collapsed on her front lawn. The Culpeper County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene and immediately launched a homicide investigation into his death.
Investigators discovered shell casings at the location of the shooting but were unable to immediately determine a motive or identify any potential suspects. The community was left in a state of shock and grief, mourning the loss of a man described as a 'living legend' and a devoted father to his three children. Friends and family remembered him as a person who was always laughing and joking, and they struggled to comprehend why anyone would want to harm him.
In the wake of the shooting, the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office offered a $5,000 reward for any information that could lead to an arrest and conviction in the case. However, despite the ongoing investigation and the reward offered, there have been no significant breakthroughs or arrests made in connection with the murder of Roger Davis. His case remains unsolved, leaving his family and the community still searching for answers and justice for his untimely death.
