Brandan Smith, a 28-year-old resident of Portsmouth, Virginia, was tragically shot and killed on the night of July 4, 2018. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on Watts Avenue, just off Portsmouth Boulevard. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Smith suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to the torso. Despite the efforts of medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Portsmouth Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation following the shooting.
