On the evening of September 24, 2020, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 40 block of Gilmerton Avenue in Portsmouth, Virginia. When the sounds of violence subsided, 20-year-old Daquan Terryon Jordan, a Black male, was found lying with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Despite the efforts of first responders, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene, his life tragically cut short.
