On the night of September 11, 2018, Norfolk police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1500 block of Melon Street. Shortly thereafter, two men arrived at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, 42-year-old Kaliek L. Suber, succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The second victim sustained serious injuries but was expected to recover.
