In the late summer of 2018, the life of 47-year-old Tanya Washington was brought to a tragic and violent end in Richmond, Virginia. On the evening of Thursday, September 13th, a welfare check requested by concerned acquaintances led police to a harrowing discovery in a residence on the 3200 block of Midlothian Turnpike. Inside the home, officers found Ms. Washington deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Alongside her was the body of 46-year-old Jarrad R. Eakes.
Following their initial investigation, the Richmond Police Department concluded that the tragic event was a murder-suicide. Detectives believe that Eakes fatally shot Washington before turning the weapon on himself. The incident sent ripples of shock and grief through the community as the details of the violent encounter came to light.
There was no indication of a search for any other suspects, as the investigation pointed solely to Eakes as the perpetrator in the death of Tanya Washington.
