In the fall of 2018, the life of a Portsmouth teenager was tragically cut short, leaving a family and a community in mourning. Demonta Faircloth, a 16-year-old Black male affectionately known as 'Doo Doo,' was a sophomore at Woodrow Wilson High School with a love for sports, including football, baseball, and track. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, the third of seven children who brought a wonderful spirit to those he encountered.
