On a Sunday evening in Woodbridge, Virginia, what began as a transaction for a pair of shoes descended into deadly violence, claiming the life of 28-year-old Christopher Jermaine Williams. The fatal encounter took place on November 4, 2018, in the 16800 block of Brandy Moor Loop. Police arrived at the scene shortly before 6 p.m. to find a vehicle that had gone over a curb and into a wooded area. Inside, they discovered Williams and another male, both suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the double homicide revealed a prearranged meeting for the sale of shoes had gone horribly wrong. Williams, along with a 22-year-old companion, had arranged to meet two individuals to make the purchase. At some point during their interaction, an attempt was made to rob Williams and his friend. An altercation erupted, and in the ensuing chaos, shots were fired. Williams was fatally wounded, as was one of the alleged robbers, 18-year-old Israel Gamez Jr. of Stafford.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Williams's companion and the second suspect fled the scene on foot. Detectives with the Prince William County Police were able to identify the second suspect as 22-year-old Daunte Anthony Moten of Arlington. He was located and arrested on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, without incident. Moten was subsequently charged with felony homicide and robbery for his role in the deadly confrontation. Authorities stated that Moten was involved in planning and was present during the robbery attempt.
