On March 10, 2019, Tyquan Charles, an 18-year-old from Norfolk, Virginia, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the upper body in Portsmouth, Virginia. The incident occurred early in the morning on Buchanan Avenue, with the call to the police coming in around 1:52 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Charles had already succumbed to his injuries before medics could transport him to a hospital.
