A 58-year-old transient man found shot to death in a homeless camp this week was a fixture on the streets of Birmingham, so much so that he was affectionately nicknamed "Street James" by downtown residents and business owners who came to know and love him.
"James was homeless by choice, not circumstances,'' said Todd Denaburg of Levy's Fine Jewelry. "He was a free spirit who wanted to live life his way by his choices."
