In the early morning hours of August 1, 2019, tragedy struck in the city of Richmond, Virginia, forever altering the lives of one family. Olajuwon Akeem Elleby, a 34-year-old Black male, was found shot to death in the rear parking lot of the Bloom Apartments on Chamberlayne Avenue. The incident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., also claimed the life of 39-year-old Jammie Lee Walker, marking it a double homicide that sent shockwaves through the community.
