In the fall of 2019, the Petersburg community was shaken by the violent death of 17-year-old Londre Claiborne, a male student at Petersburg High School. Known affectionately as 'Bunny,' he was described as a beloved member of the community. On the evening of October 5, 2019, a triple shooting occurred on Courthouse Street, tragically cutting short Claiborne's life and also claiming the life of 19-year-old Nijay Hairston.
