In the early hours of January 3, 2020, the life of William Oliver Hurt, a 29-year-old Black male from Richmond, Virginia, was tragically cut short. Police were called to a motel on Chamberlayne Avenue around 7:05 a.m., where they discovered Hurt unresponsive in one of the rooms. He had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The case was immediately investigated as a homicide, with the Medical Examiner later confirming the cause of death.
