In the winter of 2020, a violent home invasion in Chesterfield, Virginia, ended the life of 51-year-old David Wyatt Crostic. On the afternoon of January 15th, two individuals forced their way into his residence on Rowlett Road. They demanded money and, after receiving it, shot Crostic before fleeing the scene. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the robbery and homicide continued for several months.
In late August of the same year, law enforcement authorities, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, apprehended three suspects in connection with the case. The individuals taken into custody were 41-year-old Dayomic J. Smith, 26-year-old Kanavis C. Davis, and 55-year-old Joshua M. Cousins, all from Richmond.
Each of the three men was charged with burglary with intent to commit abduction with a deadly weapon and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Following their arrests, Smith and Cousins were held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail, while Davis was detained at Riverside Regional Jail, also without bond. The investigation into the incident remained ongoing.
