In a tragic event that unfolded on Father's Day, June 15, 2014, in Chesterfield, Virginia, two-year-old Seth Neil Jernigan, a White male, was killed in a violent encounter that also claimed the lives of his mother and half-sister. The devastating incident was orchestrated by Seth's father, 35-year-old Barry C. Jernigan, who ended his own life after murdering his family.
That evening, Chesterfield County police were dispatched to the family's home in the McCormick Woods subdivision for a welfare check.
