In the spring of 2020, the life of 26-year-old Desean McDowell Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, was tragically cut short. On the afternoon of Friday, April 24th, Henrico County Police responded to a call of a shooting in the 1800 block of Buckner Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims, McDowell and an adult female. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
While the female victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, McDowell’s wounds proved to be far more
severe. He fought for his life overnight, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, April 25, 2020. The investigation into the shooting was immediately launched by the Henrico County Police Department.
In a news release issued the same day as McDowell's passing, the police department announced that they were not actively seeking any additional suspects in connection with the shooting. The circumstances that led to this conclusion, and whether a suspect was identified or in custody, were not publicly detailed. The investigation was described as active and ongoing at the time.
