In the early morning hours of June 22, 2020, a vacation to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront turned tragic for a young man from North Carolina. Calvin Demerius Allen, a 26-year-old Black male, was shot and killed in the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue. Virginia Beach police responded to a report of a gunshot wound around 12:32 a.m. and found Allen deceased at the scene. At the time of his death, Allen was eagerly awaiting the birth of his child. His family described him as a humble and kind person with a smile that could light up any room.
Originally from Henderson, North Carolina, Allen was visiting Virginia Beach when his life was cut short. The incident left his family searching for answers and pleading for justice for a man they say did not deserve such a fate. His aunt and cousins have expressed their heartbreak and frustration over the senseless act of violence that took him from them. They have remained determined to find out who was responsible for his death.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Virginia Beach Police Department, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The case remains an open and active investigation. In their quest for answers, Allen's family has offered a reward for any information that could lead to a break in the case.
