In the early morning hours of June 22, 2020, a vacation to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront turned tragic for a young man from North Carolina. Calvin Demerius Allen, a 26-year-old Black male, was shot and killed in the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue. Virginia Beach police responded to a report of a gunshot wound around 12:32 a.m. and found Allen deceased at the scene. At the time of his death, Allen was eagerly awaiting the birth of his child.
