In the early morning hours of July 11, 2020, the life of 29-year-old Lamar Octavious Elliott, a Black male from Suffolk, Virginia, was tragically cut short. Suffolk Police responded to a call of shots fired around 2:44 a.m. in the vicinity of the 200 block of North Broad Street and First Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a vehicle that had come to a stop against a house. Inside the car was Lamar Octavious Elliott, who was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
The residence sustained no damage. His death was officially ruled a homicide.
Remembered as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Elliott was known for his humor, intelligence, and strong work ethic. He was a Master Barber at Elliott Premier Cutz and the co-owner of B & E Auto Sales. Known affectionately as 'Pablo' to his friends and family, he was described as a great father to his five children who had made positive changes in his life. His family expressed their profound grief and desire for justice in the wake of his sudden and violent death.
In the days following the shooting, community members gathered for a memorial to honor and celebrate his life, remembering him as a family man who was always looking out for others. Despite the ongoing investigation by the Suffolk Police Department, no suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with the murder of Lamar Octavious Elliott. Authorities have continued to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case. The investigation into his death remains active.
