In the late hours of November 18, 2020, Abram Dontae Randle, a 31-year-old Black man, was fatally shot in Norfolk, Virginia. The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. in the 800 block of Granby Street, located in the city's NEON District. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Randle suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response, he was pronounced deceased at the location.
As the investigation into the homicide progressed, detectives identified two
individuals believed to be connected to the shooting. This led to the arrest of 27-year-old Celia E. Williams-Valle of Norfolk. She was subsequently charged with being an accessory after the fact. The police also identified a second suspect, 25-year-old Marqail King.
Authorities issued warrants for King's arrest on charges of second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. While Williams-Valle was taken into custody, King remained at large following the initial investigation. The motive for the shooting was not immediately released to the public as law enforcement continued to piece together the events that led to Randle's death.
