In the evening of November 9, 2015, in Norfolk, Virginia, 19-year-old Trenton D. Holland, a Black/African American male, was found inside a home on Lindenwood Avenue with a gunshot wound. Emergency services were called to the scene around 8:45 p.m., and he was quickly transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Holland succumbed to his injuries and passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The investigation into
the shooting led Norfolk homicide detectives to identify a suspect who lived on the same block where the incident occurred. The suspect, 30-year-old Martinis T. Privott, turned himself in to the police on the same evening of the shooting. There were no further incidents reported during his surrender.
Following his arrest, Martinis T. Privott was charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was subsequently held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond. At the time, law enforcement did not indicate that they were searching for any other individuals in connection with Trenton Holland's death.
