In the early morning hours of December 27, 2020, the life of Jamarcus Brad Washington, a 32-year-old Black/African American male from Louisa County, was tragically cut short in Charlottesville, Virginia. Just before 1:00 AM, the Charlottesville Police Department received a call reporting shots fired in the 900 block of South First Street. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr. Washington unresponsive on the sidewalk.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Affectionately known as 'Buck Nasty' to his friends and family, Jamarcus Washington was a well-known and beloved figure in his community. He was known for organizing neighborhood events and volunteering his time at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church. His death was a profound loss for his loved ones and the South First Street Public Housing community where he had spent a significant portion of his life. His passing was one of four gun-related homicides in Charlottesville in 2020, a year that saw a notable increase in such violence.
The investigation into the shooting death of Jamarcus Washington remains ongoing. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with his murder.
