On February 21, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia, resulting in the death of Joshua Lamont Jones, a 34-year-old resident of the city. The shooting took place in the parking lot of the Timberland apartment complex.

Law enforcement responded to reports of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered Jones, who had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
