In the late hours of June 23, 2021, the life of 27-year-old DeQuan Lamont Major was tragically cut short in Newport News, Virginia. Known affectionately as 'Major' or 'Quan' to his loved ones, he was a father to two sons, Morian and Magic. DeQuan had built a life centered around helping others, earning certifications as a Direct Care Staff, Personal Care Assistant, and Registered Medication Technician.
On that Wednesday night, at approximately 11:33 p.m., Newport News Police responded to
a call of a shooting in the 13200 block of Aqueduct Drive. Upon their arrival, officers discovered DeQuan suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics at the scene pronounced him dead, leaving behind a grieving family and community.
In the wake of the shooting, the Newport News Police Department launched a homicide investigation, with detectives and the Forensic Unit working to piece together the events of that fatal night. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, the case has remained unsolved. To date, there have been no arrests made in connection with DeQuan Lamont Major's death, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation into his murder is considered ongoing.
