On September 3, 2023, 18-year-old Davonte Kyle Burris was fatally shot in Newport News, Virginia. At approximately 8:37 p.m., Newport News Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 500 block of Catina Way. Upon arrival, they found Burris inside a residence, suffering from at least one gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at 8:49 p.m.
