On a late summer evening in Newport News, Virginia, the life of 18-year-old Davonte Kyle Burris was tragically cut short. On September 3, 2023, in the 500 block of Catina Way, gunshots shattered the night's quiet at approximately 8:37 p.m. Responding officers discovered that Burris, a resident of Hampton, had sustained at least one gunshot wound.
