David Gergel, age 45, was shot and killed on September 6, 2015, while driving in southwest Detroit near Dix and Woodmere. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. as Gergel was in the area to collect a payment for a paint job. During his drive, he encountered a black Cadillac stopped in the middle of the street. As Gergel attempted to drive around the vehicle, someone inside the Cadillac opened fire. One of the shots struck Gergel in the back through his driver's seat.
