In the late summer of 2021, the life of Corey Donnell Cortez “C-Ree” Seward was tragically cut short. A 32-year-old Black male from Petersburg, Virginia, Seward was fatally shot on the evening of Tuesday, August 3, 2021. The incident that claimed his life unfolded on Mingea Street in his hometown, leaving a community to mourn and authorities with a homicide to solve.
