In the early morning hours of October 29, 2022, the life of 31-year-old Davon Anthony Webster, Sr. was tragically cut short in a hail of gunfire. A Black / African American male known affectionately as 'Lil Sleep,' Webster was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 600 block of Grove Avenue in Petersburg, Virginia. The sheer violence of the act shocked the typically quiet neighborhood, with reports of more than two dozen shots fired.
Despite being rushed to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving a profound void in the lives of his family and friends.
Davon, born on April 18, 1991, was remembered for his vibrant personality, laughter, and the love he generously shared with those around him. A graduate of Chesterfield County Public Schools, he had been formerly employed with Goodwill and Olde Towne “TENT” in Petersburg. His untimely death has been a source of immense grief for his loved ones, particularly his stepfather, who has spoken of his desperate desire for answers and justice.
The Petersburg Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide, but details regarding a motive or potential suspects have not been released to the public. The case remains ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing those responsible for this senseless act of violence to justice. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Davon Webster, and his family continues to await closure.
