In the winter of 2022, the city of Petersburg was shaken by the violent and untimely death of 32-year-old Brian Wade Jr. On the afternoon of February 28th, a life was tragically cut short in the 2200 block of Ferndale Avenue. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to find Wade with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he succumbed to them shortly after his arrival.
The investigation into the
shooting led to the swift arrest of 18-year-old Ronald Parker Jr., who was located at the scene of the crime. Parker was taken into custody without incident and faced a series of serious charges, including second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm in the commission of a felony. The motive for the shooting was not immediately released to the public as the investigation continued.
Brian Wade Jr. was remembered as a man who was deeply devoted to his family and had a great passion for music. He was employed at the ALDI Distribution Center in Dinwiddie, Virginia. His death left a profound void in the lives of his loved ones, including his fiancée, Tinesha Chin. In a heartbreaking turn of events, just two days after his passing, his daughter, Zari Serenity Wade, was born. The Petersburg community mourned the loss of Wade, marking his death as the city's first homicide of the year.
