In the late summer of 2023, the community of Petersburg, Virginia, was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the life of Fatin Ibn Hassan Rhone. On September 24, 2023, the 29-year-old male was discovered deceased inside a vehicle located on West Street, near the intersection with Young Avenue. An investigation by the Petersburg Bureau of Police determined that Rhone had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. His death was classified as the city's 16th homicide of the year.
