In the early evening of a December day in Richmond, Virginia, the life of 19-year-old Jay’Quan Royster was tragically cut short. On December 6, 2021, Royster was fatally wounded in a shooting that occurred in the 1800 block of Southlawn Avenue.

Following the shooting, a private vehicle carrying Royster was en route to a local hospital when the driver, in a desperate plea for help, flagged down a Richmond Fire Department vehicle. Emergency medical personnel provided initial treatment bef ...
