In the early evening of a December day in Richmond, Virginia, the life of 19-year-old Jay’Quan Royster was tragically cut short. On December 6, 2021, Royster was fatally wounded in a shooting that occurred in the 1800 block of Southlawn Avenue.
Following the shooting, a private vehicle carrying Royster was en route to a local hospital when the driver, in a desperate plea for help, flagged down a Richmond Fire Department vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel provided initial treatment before he was transported to the hospital. Despite these efforts, Jay'Quan Royster succumbed to his injuries.
Richmond Police detectives have been investigating the shooting as a homicide. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in solving the murder of the young man.
