In the early hours of June 29, 2022, the life of 26-year-old Z’Ky S. Williams, a Black male from Norfolk, Virginia, was tragically cut short. Around 12:40 a.m., Norfolk police responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 6200 block of Alexander Street. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene with two men suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced Z'Ky S. Williams dead at the scene.
The second man was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of his critical injuries. The sudden violence left family, friends, and the community mourning the loss of a man remembered as thoughtful and devoted.
In the wake of the shooting, detectives with the Norfolk Police Department launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Williams's death. However, authorities have not publicly released information regarding a possible motive for the shooting. To date, no suspects have been identified or taken into custody in connection with the homicide. The investigation remains ongoing, leaving many questions unanswered for a community seeking justice and closure.
