On the evening of August 25, 2022, Hollis G. Mason II, a 38-year-old Black male, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on West Pembroke Avenue in Hampton, Virginia. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries. At the time of his death, Mason, a resident of Mableton, Georgia, was a father, musician, and entrepreneur who was remembered by loved ones as a dedicated and loving man.
The investigation into his death revealed that the shooting
occurred around 7:40 p.m. in the area of a restaurant called Chick A Sea. Witnesses at the scene described a possible suspect vehicle, a blue Acura, which was reported to have at least three Black males and a dog inside. One of the occupants, the front passenger, was described as wearing a ski mask. This vehicle and its occupants were believed to be involved in the fatal shooting.
In the wake of the tragedy, Hollis G. Mason II's family has been relentless in their pursuit of justice. His sister, Harmonie Mason, has been a vocal advocate, taking public steps such as erecting a billboard to appeal for information from the community. The family has expressed their profound loss and their determination to see those responsible for his death held accountable. They remember him as a supportive friend and a loving father who was eagerly anticipating his 20-year high school reunion.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Hampton Police Division and the circulation of suspect descriptions, no arrests have been made in the case. The murder of Hollis G.
