In the early morning hours of September 30, 2022, the life of Steven Lavell Prosise, a 43-year-old Black male affectionately known as 'Stevie D,' was tragically cut short in Petersburg, Virginia. Police responded to reports of multiple gunshots near the Royal Inn Motel on South Little Church Street and discovered Mr. Prosise lying in the middle of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. This violent act marked the 16th homicide in the city of Petersburg for that year. ...
