In the early morning hours of September 30, 2022, the life of Steven Lavell Prosise, a 43-year-old Black male affectionately known as 'Stevie D,' was tragically cut short in Petersburg, Virginia. Police responded to reports of multiple gunshots near the Royal Inn Motel on South Little Church Street and discovered Mr. Prosise lying in the middle of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
This violent act marked the 16th homicide in the city of Petersburg for that year.
Remembered as a loving person with a constant smile, 'Stevie D' was a creative and artistic individual with a passion for designing clothes and sneakers, with a particular fondness for Jordans. A devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Florida Gators, he was known for being well-dressed from head to toe. He was a beloved member of his community, cherished by his family and friends for the joy and positive spirit he brought into their lives.
The investigation into Steven Prosise's murder is ongoing. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with his killing, and no arrests have been made.
