On a late November evening in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the life of Steven Terrence Watkins, a 52-year-old Black male, was abruptly ended. On November 23, 2022, police were dispatched to the 5300 block of Wesleyan Drive after a ShotSpotter alert indicated the sound of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Watkins suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite any efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Steven Watkins, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was a man of many chapters. He had served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy before venturing into the world of finance as a stock trader. More recently, he had embarked on a new business endeavor with a friend, starting a vending machine company. Known for his energetic and outgoing personality, he was a hard-working and caring individual. He is survived by his fiancée and five children.
The Virginia Beach Police Department quickly classified Mr. Watkins' death as a homicide and launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. However, the case has proven to be a difficult one to solve. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the murder.
