On a Saturday afternoon in the fall of 2014, a sense of normalcy was shattered on a residential street in Irvington, New Jersey. Thirty-three-year-old Keith Burton, a Black male, was walking along the 300 block of Myrtle Avenue around noon on October 25th when he was shot. The gunfire left him with a serious wound to his leg. Emergency services responded to the scene and transported Burton to University Hospital in nearby Newark for medical attention.
